Sound artist and composer Kate Moore (born 1979 in Oxfordshire, England) grew up in Australia with her Dutch mother. In 2002, her music studies brought her to the Netherlands, where she studied with Louis Andriessen, among others. Moore is a socially engaged composer who draws on the power of nature in her work.
Her compositions have been performed by, among others, Asko|Schönberg, Bang on a Can, Icebreaker, Slagwerk Den Haag, Ensemble Offspring, the Australian String Quartet, the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Groot Omroepkoor. Moore has won several awards, including the Matthijs Vermeulen Prize and the Gieskes-Strijbis Podium Prize.
