20 Years of IJ-Salon:
a vibrant gathering place for music and more
In 2005, Michael Gieler founded the IJ-Salon, driven by the conviction that every repertoire deserves to sound fresh. Since then, this series at the Muziekgebouw has become a regular gathering place for lovers of classical and modern chamber music.
For twenty years now, musicians from the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra and promising young artists have been presenting surprising programs in which music engages in dialogue with other art forms, such as literature, visual arts, dance, theater, or performance. Artistic Director Michael Gieler guides the audience in a relaxed and humorous way. We show that classical music is accessible, relevant, and full of life. All of this takes place in an informal atmosphere.
Every IJ-Salon is unique. Welcome!
