Singer, double bassist, and composer Fuensanta was born and raised in the water forest of Veracruz (Mexico). There, she began singing at age thirteen and writing poetry at age fifteen. She moved to the Netherlands and in 2019 graduated summa cum laude from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. You can still hear where she comes from in her songs: the rawness, loneliness, and surrealism of the water forest come through strongly.
‘A rare musician because, above all, she possesses a spirit steeped in poetry. The images evoked by the words that weave together the lyrics of her songs form rich paintings, with a poetic realism similar to that of the frescoes […] that reflect the aesthetics of her native country: Mexico. There is a mysterious, earthy force in Fuensanta’s poetry, music, and singing.’
