Henk de Vlieger (Schiedam, 1953) studied percussion with Willem Heesen and composition with Theo Loevendie and Klaas de Vries at the Rotterdam Conservatory. He gained international recognition for his symphonic arrangements of Richard Wagner’s operas. These arrangements are now performed by major orchestras and renowned conductors around the world.
More recently, he has focused on orchestrations of works by Schumann, Brahms, and Franck, and has been creating arrangements of symphonic works for chamber ensembles. In doing so, he remains faithful to the composers’ instrumental principles. He has also written his own compositions, such as *Mobile…*, *Toccata*, *Fresco*, *Evocazione*, and *Elegia*.
