“One of the highlights of the North Sea Jazz Festival,” wrote Jazzmagazine about pianist and composer Rembrandt Frerichs (*1977). His knowledge of art music from various parts of the world gives him the freedom to continually develop his own music, pushing the boundaries of classical, improvised, and world music.
At the age of 22, Rembrandt made his debut at the North Sea Jazz Festival. He performed with greats such as Chick Corea in London. He has played at some of the world’s legendary jazz clubs, such as Birdland in New York and Ronnie Scott’s in London, as well as at festivals and clubs across Europe, the Americas, and the Far East. As a composer, his works have been performed and recorded by classical, world, and jazz musicians alike. His music has also been used in theater productions in Japan and by the Bielefeld Dance Company (Germany).
